KAZDrill™ is an integral blade stabilizer designed and developed by KAZ United Limited Company for rotary and directional drilling operations in Saudi Arabian oil and gas wells. It is a full-gauge string stabilizer manufactured to API Spec 7-1, and fully compatible with all Saudi Aramco BHA programs as a direct drop in replacement

The Innovation – KAZStud™ Blade Protection System

Every stabilizer blade in the industry today relies on the same protection technology – a composite hardfacing overlay applied by welding. Hard carbide particles are suspended in a soft metal binder matrix. The matrix erodes under formation abrasion. The carbide particles fall away. The blade fails suddenly, without warning, and the tool must be recovered and sent to a workshop for weeks of reconditioning – at enormous cost in rig non-productive time.

KAZ United has engineered a different solution.

The KAZDrill™ blade is protected by the proprietary KAZStud™ system – individual solid sintered hard metal studs bonded directly to the blade face. Each stud is a monolithic cylinder of hard material from tip to base. There is no matrix. There is no binder. There is nothing soft to erode. The formation must grind through the full height of 1,800 HV solid material before it can reach the blade steel beneath.

This single change – from composite overlay to solid monolithic studs – transforms the performance of the stabilizer in every measurable way.
